Community Media Conference

PPL is partnering with PRS for Music to support the Community Media Conference in 2018.

The Community Media Conference 2018 presented by the Community Media Association (CMA) takes place on Saturday 15th September from 10am to 5pm at The Workstation in Sheffield, a leading business centre for creative talent and innovation.

The Community Media Conference brings together community broadcasters and publishers, media enthusiasts, academics and creatives for a day of learning, exchange and celebration with inspiring speakers and networking opportunities.

There will also be practical workshops and learning opportunities, and a showcase of creative work.

The 2018 theme, We are the Future, is unique in that it is shaped and supported by a team of eight young people who are based in community media organisations around the UK. On the day we will be taking a look at how the next generation of media makers is building diverse, creative, and participatory media at a grassroots level. We will also be addressing the practicalities of involving young people in community broadcasting to build sustainable and thriving organisations for future generations.

There will be breakout sessions on social media and brand awareness; creating a sustainable business model delivering qualifications for young people; a zine-making workshop; a CiviCRM workshop; local networking from The Radio Hub; and tips on applying to the Community Radio Fund from the CMA.
