PPL to support Youth Jazz at Portcullis House

The All Party Parliamentary Jazz Appreciation Group (APPJAG) is delighted to host Youth Jazz at Portcullis House on Wednesday 15 January 2014 at Portcullis House, House of Commons – having received kind permission from the Speaker of the House of Commons to play live music.

We are sponsoring and supporting the event which celebrates youth in jazz, and are very much looking forward to APPJAG’s showcase of the vibrant Youth Jazz orchestra scene in the UK today.

Each year with the help of PPL, a youth jazz ensemble has the opportunity to work with a major guest artist culminating in this live performance.  This year APPJAG welcomes members of Jambone, the North East’s top youth jazz ensemble.

Based at the Sage Gateshead – a purpose-built music and arts centre by the River Tyne – Jambone have gained recognition through high profile live performances over the years with some of the great jazz artists, including Andy Sheppard, Sir John Dankworth, Guy Barker, Tim Garland, the Jazz Jamaica All Stars and The Preservation Hall Band from New Orleans. The group is made up of 13 to 19 year olds and will be joined by guest artist, trombonist, composer and arranger Rick Taylor.

To find out more about Jambone, take a look at their profile page on the Sage Gateshead’s website, Also, make sure you’re following us on Twitter @ppluk for all our events updates.
