Welsh Music Prize 2013
PPL are proud to be sponsoring this year’s Welsh Music Prize which recognises the best new music from Wales, with a focus on diversity and excellent production technique.
The awards will be held at Castle House, Cardiff on Wednesday 17 October, and our Member Services team and Business Relationship Executives are looking forward to attending.
The Welsh Music prize was created in 2011 by Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens, known for presenting “In New Music We Trust”, and Cardiff festival promoter and music industry expert John Rostron. This year, 12 albums have been shortlisted for the 2013 awards. They include:
Euros Childs – Summer Special
Fist of the First Man – Fist of the First Man
Georgia Ruth – Week of Pines
Laurence Made Me Cry – The Diary of Me
Little Arrow – Wild Wishes
Metabeats – Caviar Crackle
Neon Neon – Praxis Makes Perfect
Race Horses – Furniture
Sweet Baboo – Ships
Trwbador – Trwbador
Winter Villains – February
Zervas and Pepper – Lifebringer
The prize was launched to coincide with SWN Festival - one of the UK’s biggest independent music festivals, where our Member Services team will also be hosting a panel entitled “Are You Being Paid When Your Recordings Are Played?”. Click here to view details about this event and how to register.
If you’d like to know about the Welsh Music Prize nominees, a new artist’s profile detailing the inspiration behind their album is uploaded weekly to the Welsh Music Prize blog – it’s a great read.
