PPL’s James Bessell listed in Music Week’s 30 under 30
James Bessell is an Account Manager in the PPL Public Performance Operations (PPO) team. He has worked at PPL since 2007, where his passion for developing genuine relationships with businesses has meant he consistently delivers a first-class service to all his customers.
James began his career at PPL as a general licensing coordinator in the pubs and clubs sector and progressed to join the Large Accounts team three years later. Over this time James has worked hard to develop strong relationships with some of the UK’s leading companies in this sector.
Due to his hard work and dedication, James has recently been listed in Music Week’s prestigious 30 under 30 – an annual feature that recognises and celebrates the UK music industry’s ‘brilliant young music executives’. We spoke to James about his huge achievement and the important role he plays at PPL:
“I was so honoured and proud to be nominated by my colleagues. Then to be chosen alongside such a high calibre of other industry professionals, such as A & R scouts, successful agents and marketing managers – was just unbelievable. I’m delighted to be part of Music Week’s 30 under 30!”
“My role is to help the businesses I work with understand that playing music in their venue is positively contributing to their customer’s experience –whether they’re having drinks with friends or dining out – music is important to creating the right atmosphere. By collecting licence fees and distributing these to members, PPL is making it possible for those involved in making recorded music to earn a living and is directly helping support the UK music industry so that new music can continue to be produced.”
PPL are extremely proud that James has been recognised for his work by the UK music industry, to read the full feature, visit the Music Week website. You can also keep up to date with all our news and events by following @PPLUK on Twitter, or our company page on LinkedIn.
