PPL meets with Government IP Minister
At PPL, we are working with other UK Music members to better understand the impact that Brexit could have on our sector.
Recently, we participated in a UK Music industry roundtable with new Intellectual Property Minister, Jo Johnson MP. The meeting gave us an opportunity to deliver our views and concerns about Brexit and the Digital Single Market (DSM) Directive as well as the UK Government’s Industrial Strategy.
Our collective message on Brexit focused on the vital need for all facets of the music business, including record companies and performers, to have access to the Single Market. With regards to the DSM Directive, which has implications for copyright and cross-border sharing of content, the industry asked for clarity on implementation and restated cross-sector support for the value gap proposals.
We will keep you updated on our work as the year progresses.
