PPL welcomes two new directorial appointments

Mary Beer and Kate Reilly join PPL’s Executive Management Team

Today, music licensing company PPL has announced two new appointments in the HR and Marketing and PR teams. Mary Beer joins the company as Director of Marketing and PR whilst Kate Reilly is promoted to the newly created role of Director of People and Organisational Development.

Mary comes to PPL from BBC Worldwide where she held the position of Commercial Strategy Director, leading innovation and marketing for the BBC’s historic Doctor Who brand. Previously Mary was Global Director of Marketing at FremantleMedia Enterprises and Marketing Director at Flextech Television. She has led B2B and B2C marketing, PR, live events, digital and social strategy for a range of brands and most recently worked with the team at BBC Worldwide to revitalise Doctor Who, maximising its revenue, increasing engagement and enhancing awareness amongst key stakeholders, particularly in the year of Doctor Who’s world-record breaking 50th anniversary simulcast to 98 countries.

At PPL Mary will be responsible for leading the team in driving awareness of the organisation and music licensing amongst UK businesses, performers and the wider music industry, in order to help maximise revenues for PPL’s members as performance rights continue to become a major revenue stream for the industry. She said:

Former Head of HR at PPL, Kate Reilly, has been promoted to Director of People and Organisational Development. In this newly created role Kate is responsible for leading the HR, Training and Quality, and Facilities teams at PPL to promote a culture of continuous improvement, enhanced employee engagement, and to lead the delivery of learning and development. Kate is also leading on  initiatives around equality, diversity and talent recruitment within the wider music and creative industries work in this area.

Kate has over ten years’ experience as a Human Resources professional working within the retail, financial services, oil, not-for-profit, and advertising industries with expertise in HR strategy, recruitment and retention, coaching, training and development, TUPE, HRIS, payroll, and organisational planning and development. Under Kate’s management, PPL has been a finalist in the Employee Engagement Awards, Employee Experience Awards, UK Customer Experience Awards and European Call Centre and Customer Service Awards to date.

Mary Beer

Mary joined PPL in 2014 as Director of Marketing and PR, where she is responsible for leading the team in driving awareness of the organisation and music licensing amongst UK businesses, performers and the wider music industry. Throughout her career, Mary has received over 20 Promax Awards for creative excellence and strategic effectiveness and won four World Gold Awards for B2B print and promo creative in as many years.  Mary has also consulted on commercial and marketing strategy for numerous blue-chip organisations including Paramount Comedy/MTV and ITV.

Kate Reilly joined PPL in 2011 as Senior HR Business Partner and has since moved into the position of Head of HR in 2012 and later into the newly created role of Director of People and Organisational Development in 2014.
