Who can become a PPL member?

If you've performed on recorded music that has been broadcast or played in public, you could be entitled to royalties. If you control the rights for when recorded music is broadcast and played in public, PPL could be making money for you. It’s free to join PPL and you can do so online.

Benefits of PPL membership

Regular royalty payments

UK royalties are paid out annually in June, plus other regular payments including quarterly international royalty payments.

No joining fee

We do not retain a profit for our services, helping to maximise the royalties paid to members.

International collections

We collect royalties for the use of recordings through agreements with other collective management organisations around the globe.

US tax status

We have Qualified Intermediary status from the US tax authorities. Royalties collected by PPL are not subject to US withholding tax of 30%.

Defined royalty calculation

Royalties are calculated at track level and at individual performer level based upon music usage.

Dedicated member account

We offer access to a secure online myPPL account – your online member portal to manage your repertoire and view your payments.

Free member events

Including regional and London based #PPLinSessions to help you get the most out of your PPL membership.

A dedicated and specialist Member Services team, available from 9am-6pm every working day.

Manage your account details

Once you have become a PPL member you can use your myPPL account to manage your account information (such as keeping your contact and bank details up to date, so that we know how best to contact you, and how to pay you).

All your PPL accounts in one place

myPPL is a single platform for all your PPL accounts. Your performer, recording rightsholder, and VPL accounts are all able to be managed through one single myPPL log-in, allowing you to view payment statements, register repertoire, and make claims for tracks on which you have performed.
