What is the PPL Momentum Music Fund?

The PPL Momentum Music Fund offers career-boosting grants of £5,000 – £15,000 to UK-based artists and bands at a pivotal point in their development.

Since 2013 the fund has helped the careers of some of the UK’s brightest talents, including Years and Years, Kae Tempest, Ms Banks, Sam Fender, Anna Calvi, Novelist, and Moses Boyd.

To date (August 2023), the fund has had a transformational effect, with over £5.2 million awarded to artists across the whole of the UK.

526 artists have been awarded PPL Momentum Music Fund support, including 161 since PPL became headline sponsors of the Momentum Music Fund in February 2020.

This has delivered more than 300 UK tours and over 1,600 live dates, 275 albums and dozens of top 20 chart placements. 9 funded artists have gone on to be nominated for the Mercury Prize, including Ghostpoet, Little Simz and The Comet Is Coming.

Grants are offered four times a year and can be used for activities such as touring, writing and recording an album, or marketing and promotion. The fund has received more than 7,300 applications over 43 funding rounds, with 7% of applications awarded funds.

In turn, the fund has helped to generate £22 million for the UK music industry.
